About Us

Our Almond cake is our most popular cake and has also won a gold prize at the great taste awards in the past. It is sent out to both our wholesale and retail customers, and to several local Waitrose stores. Made with sugar, almonds, eggs, butter and a very small amount of flour, it is baked with a layer of marzipan in the center. A rich cake, it is also suitable as a dinner party pudding, covered with a generous amount of icing sugar and served with any fresh or stewed fruit and creme fraiche or ice cream. The 6" (150mm) size will give approximately 8 to 10 portions, the 7" (175mm) equals approximately 14 portions. The cake freezes very well.

Our Rich Fruit and Decorated Rich Fruit Cakes are both rich, dark and moist. It is the very essence of traditional cooking.

Again, we only use the finest ingredients including English butter, dark muscovado sugar, fresh local eggs and lots of plump fruit are carefully weighed, mixed and cooked very slowly. Each cake is fed a little brandy (we leave it to you to add more if you like it!) and when cold is wrapped and stored until needed.

Our Chocolate and Pecan cake is richer than a sponge and just melts in your mouth. To make it even more of a treat we suggest you melt one part butter with two parts chocolate in a bain marie and spread it over the top of the cake. This would be ideal as a birthday cake or served as a pudding heated up in the microwave and served with cream or ice cream.

Our other cakes include Lemon Drizzle, Sticky Ginger, Cherry and Almond and a lovely crumbly Dundee cake.

We have also started to make really chocolatey chocolate brownies and a selection of Scones (Fruit, cheese and plain)
